Why not just pay for it? One trait successful businesspeople have in common is that they reinvest in their business and are adequate capitalized.
That's the difference between business people who understand the time value of money and people who still think there is such thing as "Free". But if not for those forward thinking people business people would have more competition. So I for one say... go for it... keep looking till you find that Free theme that kind of sort of works. Then go make your fortune! Sweet.
Well I'm trying to find the best free theme. Then, if I actually do start making money, I can buy one. Makes more "business" sense to me...
this theme is a lot like flexibility theme you can download flexibility theme free version from their official website http://www.flexibilitytheme.com/ Regarding paying, I do not exactly believe that there is a need for buying a lot of things in wordpress platform. The best part about Wordpress is that it is free and most of its plugins and themes are free. Many of the paid themes of wordpress are worse than the free ones. And if you know wordpress properly you will be able to tweak any GPL wordpress theme to your needs in a few minutes. I dont think it is absolutely necessary that everything that is paid is better than the free ones. I might agree to this view for other scripts but surely not for wordpress.
There is a difference between trying to make money and having a real plan to make money. Free can often set you back so far you never break through because you don't have the right tools. I am not saying thre is not a place for free... there is. And if you find something that works use it. But to scale and make real money you will need to learn which tools work best and how to best allocate your time. It's like trying to build houses with a hammer or with a compressor and a nail gun. But to really make money or build a house you need a good PLAN/BLUEPRINT. Thanks for your reputation. I also buy a lot of paid scripts very often but for wordpress I normally make use of free themes and modify them according to the need. I buy paid plugins etc. for wordpress too but only if I dont find a better or equal free alternative. Instead of spending money on themes, I spend it on SEO and promotion etc. I advise you to go for paid scripts and invest money when you become successful. But I do not see the necessity of using them in wordpress if you cannot afford it as a newbie. Best of luck and hope you gain success as a webmaster soon.
I agree that free is always not the best. But in case of wordpress, most of the best plugins, themes etc. are free and they can be modified to suit the needs of the website. Even the revolution themes by Brian present in your signature link are GPL themes with paid support. And those are regarded as the best wordpress themes if you ask anyone. Regarding making real money, it does not depend on the theme actually. It depends more on SEO and promotion. And I believe newbies like the OP should not spend a lot of money initially because they would be demotivated in case they lose money. I can invest as much as I want because I make money consistently and would bear the loss easily if needed. I will also know better ways of promotion, SEO etc. to get back the money. But a newbie will find it hard to recover the money and so I suggested to the OP to not invest much money initially. As he grows he can reinvest 50% of the profit but I would sincerely not advise that to a newbie. Anyways thanks for your useful. I agree with most points in the post but not to a few ones like paid is needed for earning real money etc.
