Need a SIMPLE bulk email program

There are many threads on DP on this subject, but i have a few questions and requirements.

    1) In almost every thread requesting a program like this, someone mentions "Be aware of being blacklisted if you send spam". What constitutes spam and how many emails a day would this be?

My requirements are pretty simple, I only plan on sending around 50 emails a day. These are not opt-in emails, BUT my site revolves around a small niche and I have manually harvested these email addresses. The email addresses are of classified ad posters who have PAID to advertise their niche product on other sites, and my new site offers free ads PLUS more options than what they have paid for. I WOULD NOT send this email from a "dead" email addy, but it would be my main address which they could respond to with questions, etc. Is this a good/bad idea? I figure with only 50 a day I can offer complete support since a lot of my endusers are up in age and not very PC savvy all the time.

I would like to just email off of a .txt file of emails, import it cut and paste, etc. What options do I have? I am hosted on a VPS.

If the users did not agree to receive the E-mails (not opt in) and you harvested the E-mail addresses (typical spammer technique), then sending even one E-mail would be considered UCE (unsolicited commercial E-mail). This can result in the loss of your isp and/or host.

Your options are either to run co-op advertising (where your ad appears in someone else's opt-in E-mails, rent a mailing from a legitimate list broker, or build your own list - all of which are time consuming and possibly costly.

Thanks for clarifying that, if losing your ISP/Host and being blacklisted is the outcome I will not be doing this.

I recommend Gammadyne Mailer. It will meet all of your technical requirements, and does not need to be installed on your VPS. With a volume of only 50 per day, you can relay the email through Gmail's SMTP server. Include an opt-out link to reduce complaints and the chance of blacklisting.

I use the following settings to relay thru Gmail:

    SMTP Server name: smtp.gmail.com
    Port: 465
    User name: your gmail address
Password: the password for the gmail account
Also, make sure "SMTP Encryption" is set to Optional
