I just started using Tags on my CMS. From what I understand, Tags should not have spaces. So, for example tagging Mustang GT. Which is the proper method of tagging. A. mustanggt B. mustang as one tag and GT as another tag mustanggt as one tag, mustang as another and GT as another Thanks in advance.
You can use une of the following * Mustang+GT * Mustang_GT * MustangGT The first is the most common used. The last is used when the tag is very popular, for example googlevideo. The second was common used with delicious. If I'm right now delicious supports + too. I usually use the first, sometimes the third.
Cool. So the the whole tag is Mustang+GT. I thought they were seperate and people searched them as Mustang+GT. Thanks for your help.
Technorati, for example, uses + to separate words so people searching Mustang GT will match Mustang+GT too.
I wasn't aware of the "space" problem. Who or what exactly has a problem with spaces and what happens if your tags include them?
Hi minstrel, there are no really big problems. The main issue is that a few tools, for example del.icio.us, doesn't understand spaces. For them spaces are just a simbol to spli tags. Actually I'm trying the new Movable Type 3.3 tags feature using spaces, Technorati actually seems to understand them.
I'm still up in the air as to "best practices". Mustang GT Mustang+GT Mustang, GT I don't think it makes sense to use them all.
No, sure. Use Mustang+GT Here http://forum.rss-world.info/spazi-nei-tag-di-technorati-vt83.html a similar thread (in Italian) where the final suggestion was 'use +'.
Cool. That's the direction had been taking and we'll continue. I appreciate the sharing of knowledge on this topic.
