I have a few websites with graphics that need minor modifications, and I can't for the life of me figure how to edit layers of .psd files using gimp / windows I can find all kinds of tutorials that get into all kinds of fancy effects, all I need to do is change some of the text or cut a portion of the text. For example one site has a header "Christmas 2011" I'd like to change it to "Christmas 2012" or even "Christmas" would be suitable. In the case of the psd for that image, the "Christmas 2011" seems to be in it's own layer. Here's a link to the PSD if anyone cares to look at it http://id72.com/imagetest.php
Its a tool which help in image retouching and editing. Its free and open source software. There versions of GIMP is available for differnt operating systems ie. Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. While using GIMP you can do resizing, cropping, photo-montages, converting between different image formats and much more. If you are looking for tutorials, just write GIMP tutorial in Google search box and you got a list of tutorial from basic to advance level. Thanks
Like I said, I searched on Google and found all kinds of tutorials that get into all kinds of fancy effects, nothing that starts me out on square 1 all I need to do is change some of the text or cut a portion of the text.
What version of GIMP are you using? I downloaded the .psd and opened it with the newest version of GIMP (2.8.2) I can see every layer and edit them without a problem. (quickly edited out the 2012 - see attachment) So, get the newest GIMP, open the .psd and edit away
Thanks for the edit. I appreciate it. I think I have a very recent GIMP, need to learn more about how to use it.
On the right side you can see psd image layers option. From there you can select your designated layer and do work in it.
