Need a program that'll write HTML for me.

My mom's friend wants me to design her website. I guess my mom was talking about how I know about computers. I swear, I just showed her how to check her email and delete cookies and she thinks I'm a genius. I do know my way around the computer an okay deal (not so familiar with Vista, but I'm warming to it)

Anyway, her friends needs me to design her website and my HTML skills are basic (just enough to edit unwanted stuff off my myspace page like spam links and spam ads I get from code building pages)

I don't know enough to build a website, but I told my mom I would do it. It's good money and I could use it.
Does anyone know of a website builder that'll build me some HTML. Preferably something I can download and something on the cheaper or free side.

    Thanks a bunch you guys,
    Melanie

Learn HTML and CSS. I suggest you read Build Your Web Site The Right Way Using HTML and CSS by Ian Lloyd. HTML is so easy to learn that it's not even funny. As a friend of mine put it on a gaming forum, if you can hand-code forum tags to make bold, italicized, underlined text, links (this one goes to the Digital Point forum index) and even quotes, then you can learn HTML.

You should honestly build the site the correct way. By using a WYSIWYG, What You See Is What You Get, like Dreamweaver your site is going to look different in many browsers. It might take you longer, but learning code will make it more efficient and help you get jobs in the future.

I got fed up with wysiwyg's shortly after I started playing with websites. I could never make the editor do what I wanted, so I'd be toggling to the source code anyhow.

But, if you're in a hurry, buy hosting from a host like 1and1.com or godaddy.com. They include editors and templates for a quick site setup. Word of warning: godaddy charges extra for this feature.

Clients can be very picky at times, and WYSWYG's may not be able to do what is asked for. My suggestion to you is to either learn html etc yourself, or "outsource" the work to experienced webmasters, while keeping your commission...
    regards :)

if it's a basic web site, just using HTML, don't worry about all the differences between web browsers. Use DreamWeaver or FrontPage, but remember there only trials.

    Google search FREE HTML Editors.

    I like using HTML-Kit =)

I would just use a free ready made template and modify it as this solution suits your current skill level. The outcome will also look alot better then a first wysiwyg attempt.
