I'm going to be setting up a multiple user blog for one of my sites. I'd like multiple authors to be able to add comments. I was looking into movabletype at first (simply because I've seen it run on more professional sites more often), but I'm having tons of problems getting it to work with my server. I'm sure I could get over them eventually, but at this point I'm honestly considering trying wordpress instead (it being free doesn't hurt, either). are there any real pros or cons between the two? appreciate any feedback that'd help my decision
have you looked into PLog? it supports multi users, people can log in and register for a blog all by themselves...i've got it running on $3/month hosting and it's working so far but we haven't gone "live" yet. I dont think WPMU is as "ready" as they think it is...
Personally, I like WordPress over Movable Type just because the core is PHP based (that way if there is something it doesn't do exactly like I want, I can change it). I recently moved my personal blog to WordPress. http://www.digitalpoint.com/~shawn/
I probably won't need to change much in php, most likely. I do however love the easy install, and that I don't need to mess around with perl stuff like I did with the MT install. trip like I do's a great track, by the way ! for now I think I'll be going with wordpress, because it's free, the install's a lot easier, and there seems to be a lot of support and additions because it's free / open source / GNU. still interested in hearing what other people have to say regarding the two though
I plan to try Word Press multi-user for a project, but it does seem to be in a very fragile state at this point. Not sure it is stable enough for what I want to do with it, quite yet.
