Need a little help with an image

Attached is an image i am trying to work with. I need the blue background changed to #404040 but every program i have tried simply won't do it.

Just a little side note i'm not exactly a graphics expert.

Could someone change it for me, upload it, and then let me know how you did it as well as what software you use?

I would really really appreciate it.

You want the whole background to be #404040?
I'm not too good with images, i'd assume it'd require some fine detail rather than a simple fill though because the arrows seem to blend into the background which would cause problems.
However i might be wrong and this could be a simple 2 click job.
If i get time i'll manually do it for you later

Since wd is already on it, I'm not going to try my hand at it, but I know with GIMP I'd do this:

First, I use the "magic wand" tool (color selector, selects parts of the image by colour) to click around the blue part. Becuase it's a gradient, only parts of the blue will highlight. In GIMP, holding down SHIFT while you click around basically lets you have multiple selections. when it looks like most of the blue is selected, I CUT. In a JPG in GIMP this will leave a white background, which could then be filled in with the Paint Bucket tool. Because magic wands are only good for real general selection, there'll be blue left over, so I'd zoom in and do whatever cleanup was needed.

I'm not sure what I'd do about the bottom though. The background blends into the bottom so not sure if you'd want that included or not. If you wanted to keep the bottom light grey part, probably a new gradient between #404040 and the grey would be needed.

Because the blue background you want to change is a gradient it would be more difficult than usual but nothing photoshop cant do! Just just the lasso tool to draw around the outline of the arrows to remove the background or just use the magic wand tool to remove the majority of the blue background, that should do the trick, then just carefully draw around the arrows and fill the blue background in with the colour you want :), if i get time i will do it for you tonight :)
