I'm trying to find a very large database with misspelled words, but can't seem to find one. You guys know of any?
I would not recommend buying a pre-made list as this is something that will be available to your competitors and you will not benefit as the sole listing on this misspelling. Create your own using free software that can be found at www.goodkeywords.com. I am now up to 600,000 keywords and I only have competition on 1400. Have a good Day, Jack
Using mispelled keywords to improve traffic, ranking, or new domains is not recommended for two reasons: -- Only a very few percentage of people mispell words. So it is only a usefull technique when a large number of people may make the mistake directly in the address bar e.g. mainly with popular domains such as hotmail. -- You will get penalized by search engines if you use this technique too frequently. It happened recently when people were reposting wikipedia content with systematic use of mispelled terms. This is why they now add correction suggestions with search engine results. Conclusion: low differential increase in traffic / high penalty risk = do not use. My $0.02... Ted
TEDDYD & IRKA, First I can only pray that neither of you claim to be SEO's, because your statements are mindless. Teddyd makes the following statement; " Using mispelled keywords to improve traffic, ranking, or new domains is not recommended for two reasons: -- Only a very few percentage of people mispell words. Nothing you add to Overture/Yahoo Marketing, to include Titles, Description or Keywords can effect the advertisers site or have a negative impact on the search engines. PPC advertisements are not spidered or considered as content by the search engines for use in their natural listings. The power of using this technique can be pointed out simply by looking at Ted's post, he has misspelled 5 words. One post 5 words, how many times in a day is this man corrected by the search engines? (Did You Mean?) Irka makes the following statement;, "mispelled word are usually... useless. does anyone knows a program who can prevent from typos ? " Is Irka new to the internet, is she not aware that all major search engines ask, "Did you mean", when a person misspells words in a search? I believe one day the PPC engines will close the door on misspellings as it must cost them a great deal of lost money. The great news for advertisers is when a consumer misspells words in a Yahoo search for example, it still displays anyone that has that misspelling in their keywords. She too has a spelling error. Up until recently, I was spending as much as $7,000 a month on Overture, that equates to $233 per day. I was using 380 of my industries major keywords. Because of the high cost of the bids, 40% of my clicks were paid surfers or my competitors. Now I average $25 per day using 600,000 keywords and get better traffic and less fraud, I would now say that 95% of my traffic is an actual could be customer. Now I average 200 clicks per day, but pay only 12 Cents on average. My application count is up, and I pay much less. Using Misspellings & Common Keystroke Error Keywords can turn a small advertiser into a major player. Jack
