Does anyone know a good "Live sales chat software/service" preferably a free one with useful features

PHPLive is my choice. Feature rich and easy to use.

helpcenterlive and craftysyntax are the free open source options that you can go for. But they are not bug free and do not guarantee security and reliability.

Instead, I would advise you to go for hosted solution - liveperson if you really want to see results of your efforts. Liveperson- not free but with loads of rich features and robust interface.
