Need a free shopping cart scripts to sell my ebooks online also i want thats ebooks shod be transfered as soon as person pays. Anyone has any clue? Thanx in Advance...
I would recommend trying zen cart http://www.zen-cart.com/ HTML: . It is open source and highly configurable, plus easy to use.
Check out oscommerce. It has inbuilt code for downloadable items, and I have seen e-book stores using them. It comes with inbuilt modules to accept payments, has excellent forum support, can be customized and excellent tool. I offer free hosting, and you may host them on pubwebhost.com (osc or zen-cart)!!! Cheers GS
oscommerce is not very flexible are you looking only a shopping cart or an ecommerce complete script ? Best, jakomo
I wrote something for something like this sometime back - ngcoders.com/php/selling-digital-goods-with-paypal-ipn-and-php/ IT not a shopping cart but u can sell single items, which are securely delivered through email.
Oscommerce is very flexible, there are lots of contributions for it and has a huge support forum with lots of friendly people on thier to help you out. I would strongly recomend oscommerce, and make sure you install some SEO mods, such as chemo's ultimate seo urls, and a good meta tag mod, like cdynamic meta tags contribition.
I didn't care for oscommerce either. Modding it breaks other parts too easily. I use Joomla!'s VirtueMart now days. Virtuemart has a download feature for ebooks and other downloadable purchases.
@Lord fire, Yes, for all folks selling online music, like the one i have given as ref, you get a link at the end of purchase processing via paypal (and it is also emailed) for download later on. Before you take the plunge, I could suggest you try out both the scripts on my free hosting server (osc and zen-cart) both are available. Review the stores with dummy database (which gets populated on its own during installation), set up paypal, and make a few purchase etc yourself to see how it works, and then maybe you can make up your mind to go for a proper design and setup on paid hosting (or continue on my servers for free). Nothing better then doing the practical yourself and finding out what is the best suited option for you. I would like to add that you do need to know a bit of PHP, if you want to customize the carts, and review forums @ oscommerce to get a feel of how many users globally are running the store and would give you unbiased feedback about thier experience with OSC. Link to my host is in signatures . Thnx GS
Make sure you go to the respective forums and look at the good and bad comments. Ask questions, do the DD (due diligence) before spending your time and money building your site with the new script, only to find it's not what you want or it's a pain in the arse to maintain and use. Ask yourself: Is the learning curve really high? If so, are you willing and able to learn it? Is it easy enough to use and maintain? Can you modify it without breaking other parts? Is the respective community active, are they answering questions and helping people? Does the script display images well? Does it allow downloads? Is it search engine friendly? Are the templates available easy to use and do they look professional?
@pubdomainshost.com yes i know about it its free reseller hosting service. i know the owner of byet host. anyways thanx guys i have decided to make my own script
I would recommend staying away from os-commerce. It is old and outdated and not flexible. So much more can be down with Joomla & Virtuemart. Here are some screenshots from one of my sites. I just wanted to show you how it works. 1. Two eBooks added to cart 2. order completed 3. email recieved 4. actual email with both links
I disagree. Can you provide any evidence for your statement? Which features are better in osCommerce for selling digital items?
