back when i was a bit more neieve i purchased a turnkey affilliate site, without any real understing of the duplicate content penalty. Is there anything i can do, to give it a fair chance in the serps.

    Thanks

If the data is from a database you can run it through a php script to change certain words for other words to make it unique.

Use a thesaurus to pick some words to change on one article and create a script to do the same to them all.

    Thanks for the reply.

It automaticly updates with affiliate ringtones, games, wallpapers etc, which are probably being displayed on countless similair sites accross the web. If i altered the template, would it be worth my while to go on a link building campaign. I understand that this is ridiculously overcrowded niche, but if i thought i was being given a fair shot (no penalty) then i would like to give it go for the experience.

    Thanks

Well, you can do the following

    1) change the text of the page descriptions -- use http://www.webmasterlabor.com/tools/checker to check for duplicate descriptions

    2) change the file names of the ringtones -- change the text but the overall meaning has to remain unchanged

If you need MANUAL help on this, let me know.
