Need a CJ newbie guide

Ok, so i`m new to CJ. I made an account on CJ, made the description of my websites and i applied to about 7 web hosting affiliate programs.
After all this i got turned down by some and the others said they are reviewing applications manually or something and they will contact me. So far nothing.
Am i doing something wrong ? Do i have to post their banners first on my website and then apply for the program ? I have no idea what`s wrong with my applications...
A little help would be very appreciated and if someone can give me a short and a step by step guide it would be great !
    Thank you.

ya, they don't seem to be newbie-friendly. I was rejected for all applications made to merchants (that was something one year ago). Since then, I have stopped using CJ.com. Only recently, that I decided to logged in and see whether have any interesting advertisements worthy for publishing.

Here is what you need to do. They do NOT want people running out and making a website something like "All in one place" .com and then slapping all kinds of affiliate links into the page. What they want to see is that you have a relevant site that isn't set up to include a bunch of junk.

The steps I found to get affiliated quickly.

    1. Decide which affiliate you want to sell for.
    2. Make a website that falls into that subject/theme/niche
    3. Put information on that site about the product you want to sell
    4. Make sure your keywords, page titles, and all around look of the site is fitting.
    5. Once you have all those things in place go and apply.

They will go to your site and look it over (not always) but they will quickly scan your site to see if its a RELEVANT site. They sometimes will even watch your site for a few days to see if you're updating and keeping it up. I've spoken to a few affiliate managers that said they WILL do that. So ... once you have those things in place then apply.

If you get denied ... improve the site to fit their products a little better and apply again. You can write to them and explain your ideas, and believe it or not the affiliate managers are just as eager to get a sale as you are so they will even help you with your ideas.

    I second MicheleLee

I think you will need to make a website that will be related to the niche of the products first.

Don't be discouraged, just try and re-apply in a few months. I've been turned down by a few advertisers who manually reviewed submissions, but when I reapplied a few months later, I was automatically approved.

this happens to me too. Maybe your website don't meet their basic requirements. try to contact them and ask what's wrong with it. Or if you can't contact them just move on and search another advertisers

could be because of traffic and not enough post, I have had luck, but I did receive a denial in the beginning because of traffic reason and not having enough post on there..don't get discouraged...just put your keyboard to work and look into how to improve your traffic.

Really? :eek:It seems that most of the web hostings are approved right after you apply. There might be something wrong.

While skimming the thread again I wanted to just say a few things to keep it fresh for the newbies that are reading this for tips.

Affiliate Help: Remember each affiliate listed in CJ usually has an affiliate manager listed and an email link to contact them. They are there to help you and their goal is the same as yours "SALES" and most are willing to go above and beyond to help you. One warning though is to get your mindset in order and prepare yourself to take some honest criticism.

Decisions: Next, you will have to be your own boss. Trust your instincts and do NOT always assume their advice is always solid gold because your situation might be a bit more complicated or unique. If you feel uneasy about the advice then tell the affiliate manager as it could trigger new and better ideas.

Action: Once you get your ideas into action use analytic's and the CJ performance stats together. A few months of testing and research can pay off in a big way.

Time: It is NOT uncommon for things to take a year to start seeing anything worthy. Do not give up! It is sad that so many people do give up because they wanted instant income and its a real shame. Most of us on here have waited a year to see our first $100, but those that wait it out even a year longer see much bigger checks each month.

Advertising: If time is not something you're willing to wait on then you might want to consider investing money into advertising your website from the very beginning. I suggest you see how things go on your own first.

Backup Plans: At any moment an affiliate can drop out of the game. If you want to have an income that totally depends on your affiliate sales then you might be playing the wrong game. Some major affiliates can drop out of the commission game for months at a time - switch managements, and more. Always have a backup plan if your going to depend on affiliate income.

Just a note to remind people about the economy and the financial mess we sometimes get ourselves into. The economy hits everywhere ... even our online affiliates which provide our income. Just remember this could all end in a split second so be careful do not get yourself into heavy financial commitments now (just as we do while working outside the home).

    ;)
In the end who ultimately cares about you, your income and your website the most? YOU!

Guys, so far I've heard that you need to look for a product you want to promote and then make a site with content relating to that product. Is it a good idea to create a site specifically to promote a product? Like the site will just be about that product and have information on that product and why you should buy that product. And do merchants like these kind of sites?

For example there's a new phone that I might want to promote so I create a site about that phone with features, photos, etc. I would like to do that instead of creating a site about phones in general and then having my affiliate link here or there.

it should be that you have a site or blog related to the merchant in question, but not really and I am sorry to be throwing double standards out there. But here are common reasons why a merchant will auto deny please anyone jump in if I forget something.
    1. Country country country!!!!
    2. On the home page your 3 month epc and 7 day epc say NEW
    3. You are offering incentives (lots of cj merchants disapprove of that)
    4. When you signed up for CJ if you remember it asks you about your website and at the time you were thinking apparel, but changed your mind and want web hosting so the merchant when they look at you app. they see that your website per your own words are Womens shoes, jewelry and books? So they don't even bother looking at your website as they feel it would not profit them.
Remember everytime you create a new site or blog go to your cj account and add a new website from your account tab, then add the relevent categories. Some merchants are just lazy and won't even look at your site if you put down the wrong categories.
Thats all i have. did i miss something?

At Clicksor, publishers can call ads from other ad network when Clicksor does not have the specific related for the site user. Publishers can add the ad code or URL of the other network at the Default Ad Setting while the getting our ad code from the publisher account.

Feel free to PM us if you need further assistance.

nice one jodyq, I think you're right.. but sometimes we're not sure if that niche or product will be profitable and only want to set up and test it out a website once it's approved.. kinda like chicken and egg problem..

Try to read on other forums dedicated on affiliate marketing. It would be a good thing to do as a newbie.

Also, there are programs that are set to auto approve affiliates. So identify these programs and you can promote them right away.

If you dont know how to identify, apply to all in the category that you want. You will then get immediate email confirmation from those who autoapprove affiliates.
