Need a cheap hosts with lots of freedom and control

    I looking for a good web host that is cheap, has good space, has php/mysql support and most importantly allows me to access it via SSH and have lots of control. I hate these plesk and cpanel systems.

    I have an account with godaddy and although it has a stupid amount of space and bandwidth the support sucks and my ftp timeouts when uploading anything more than 1mb.

    Any suggestions would be great. I had thinkhost.com for a while and was excellent except for everything but space and price.

    according to your requirements like unconventional CP, ssh, dreamhost can be an option

    Definately dreamhost since mostly few hosts provide ssh acess only including dreamhost:)..Dreamhost cp is very cool btw:)

    You can have discounts if you use a coupon code. This might save you quite a few bucks

    sure np. I have heard that they restrict MySQL queries?? Can anyone confirm this?

    Almost all shared and reseller hosts restrict max mysql queries per hour...and its highly required to keep all sites on the box running.

    yah dreamhost sounds good. I use godaddy but i dont actually know what they let you do,. I usually try what i can and if it doesnt work i find a work around. :)

    Ya, I have used godaddy for a while for some websites but they don't let you do anything and I can't stand the plesk control panel plus they are really slow compared to other hosts I have used. I could go on and on why i can't stand godaddy but I guess I've just been spoilt by having my own server.

    I just wanted to come back after moving almost all my sites to dreamhost and say they are by far the best host I have ever had. I haven't had to deal with their support so I can't comment on that but that is also a good sign of a good host.

    The price is good, especially if you use your own promo code for a $97 discount.
