Check the list of free directories in my sig.

 

It's not easy to find 3000 free directories (all of them still free). You can check http://www.vmoptions.com/directory-list.php for around 1200 directories and also check out http://www.directoryroll.com/ for around 2000 directories.

If you are fine with paid directories as well you should see http://web-directories.ws/, that's the largest (still managed) directory list I know.
