I've looked over the posting guidelines and I have only one question. Is there a certain time period, during which there are no posts, beyond which you can not make a post? I don't mean bumping the thread but if you want to ask a question, or whatever. I just want to be sure about this so i don't make a mistake.

You could always PM the thread starter, especially if it is a service about which you want to ask a question.

If it is a service thread that has gotten old then your best PMing the thread owner to see if it's still on offer or not. I usually say if it's had 2 weeks or so with no-one posting then I doubt the thread starter will still be checking the thread, so you best PM them.

The above advice is good. Threads in the BST section tend to have a fairly short shelf-life so it may be best to PM the OP to ask first, and definitely READ the thread through before you even think about posting as this can save any misunderstandings. It's about using your best judgement.
