Are directories that much necessary for SEO , since many directories are not alive and not many of them do give back links too.

Where do you people get your infos, a directory is just like any other website that you can get a free or paid for inclusion, nothing bad about it. To many threads like this-- "do link counts when submitted in a directory", "are directories even needed for seo", I heard directories are obsolete", blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.

directories are a must for any seo campaign, though it must be selective to have results.

 

Im not sure what you mean by not alive directories, do you mean the ones that are open for submissions but dont appear to be dealing with them for ages, or do you mean something else?

Im not aware of anything being announced that stated that directories are necessary as part of seo, and im actually a directory owner myself, they are used but no one insists that anyone should use them, at least not officially.

Onsite/onpage seo needs to be dealt with, directories are one of a number of methods.

In our industry we have a difficult time building backlinks on sites with content about our products. Directories may have a lot of outbound links on a page, but they have good content on page for us. I endorse them. Certainly they're as good or better than many of the other backlink building techniques.

 

First of all SEO has nothing to do with directories and everything to do with Search Engines.
You optimize your site to get best possible position (SERP) in Search Engines and that is why we call it
Search Engines Optimization.

What you are talking about is known as Marketing and that has nothing to do with HTML code and how your site is build
