How many clicks to get to a page should it take maximum on a website. See I have a website that is being made however there is a lot, and I mean a lot of content in many categories and sub categories. Advice please.
4. And that's a 3 level dropdown menu, so that's tons of categories, sub categories, and sub-sub categories.
Not really liking Drop Down Menus for my website. As all the competitors have just stopped using and have moved on. Would this be fine: Category <---- Click --- Page with images to sub categories <---- Click --- Menu with expandable Navigation <----- Click --- Destination?
What type of site is it? Some sites may be able to get away with it, others it would just be an unnecessary burden (people with think "how many damn clicks do I need to do to get what I want" and leave)
Some sort of automated menu system would be good. I'd say, at the maximum, 2 clicks (homepage->category page->what they want) Even something like deviantart.com, its not a dropdown but does the same thing. What used to happen before they modified it a bit was the side menu was instant, you'd click category, it'd show sub, then you'd click a sub and it'd show more subs, then you click and it loads the page. Now its all AJAX'y (though still good)
