Natural Links

What exactly is a natural link? And how do I get them?

I have been reading all about how paid links are bad for PR (not traffic) and reciprocal can be bad as well. And natural links are the best.

Well what is a natural link.

    Thanks

someone who, for god knows what reason, find your website so good and useful, must link to it without:

    1) pay
    2) needing a reciprocal link from you

A natural link is formed when someone finds your site, likes what they see, and links to you because they feel it will benefit their viewers.

Do you really think so? I see it as SERP manipulation. We have to have our sites listed in search engines to be found. To me directory submissions is all about links.

The average joe would list their site in a directory because they see it as a way of getting traffic. Most people... website owners and masters included still have no clue of what PR is.

I got on the map via natural links(due to content) - then got interested in SEO. My latest idea is to go back to what got me started............content. I have vowed to spend less time on SEO and more time on content in the next few weeks.

A natural link is like natural boobs, hard to get your hands on, but feels good when you do.

Google determines natural link by looking at the linking structure. If the link is in the middle of the sentence/paragraph then they consider that a natural link because it likely comes from an article. Google for some reason thinks that type of linking is natural. I've seen a few sites ask for link exchanges that way.

    Example:
    Natural Linking:
This was a great site. The Stupid Wigets were amazing. They really knew what they wanted and they found a great way to get it. That is what america is all about and it's the greatest country in the world. Yeah the greatest, right after canada, china, france, blah, blah, blah

    Normal Linking:

Stupid Widgets - They really new what they wanted and they found a great way to get it. That is what america is all about and it's the greatest country in the world. Yeah the greatest, right after canada, china, france, blah, blah, blah

The best way to link to your site for yahoo is to mention your main keywords in the description 5-10 times so that yahoo thinks the page content is related to your site. I don't know what to do in google because I don't have any sites that rank well in google. Yahoo doesn't get nearly as much traffic as google.

You're on the money YoungSmeagol, this is why some blogs quickly get such massive PR.

Google does place importants on outbound links also. It will boost your site for having outbound links.

I did a site for my auntie where the index page has a pr of zero while all the other pages have a page rank of 2.

The only difference in the structure of the other pages is that all the other pages have outbound links while the index page doesn't.

Of course its also great when you get natural links coming in too.

That's why some directories that don't stop on updating and approving are getting quite good PRs, eh?
Well there might be some other sites linking to free directories etc., but for the reason that simple directories don't have any contents, they sometimes do quite well in google PR
