Natural Google Traffic

    Hello,

I am going to start a blog. I'm not going to try to keyword the hell out of the blog, or squeeze every last dollar out of it; I'm kind of doing this as a hobby. I'm going to actually try to give useful advice and help people. Later on, if it gets successful, then I'll add Adsense and stuff.

If I pick a random domain, create my site, start posting and NOTHING ELSE, will I eventually see organic traffic? Or will my blog never see the light of day?

Unless that random domain already had links to it, I don't think you'll ever see search traffic. At a minimum, it has to be found by google... usually through a link from some other site.

The likelihood of you getting organic traffic that way is very limited. The google bot will still index your blog, whether you advertise it or not and you may get some traffic from searches because of that, but unless you spend time promoting it in some shape or form you won't gain traffic you want. BUT.... if you happen to create a blog that people REALLY like then ignore anything I've just said. Sometime miracles do happen. There are quite a few websites out there that became an overnight sensation without any advertising.

you will see, but limited and that's because you haven't optimized it for search engines, in other words you wont get the full potential of your articles ability to get traffic if you will do nothing else. you can increase the potential by doing on page seo as well. also picking a random domain is a bad idea, i would pick several domains instead targeting for different keywords and go from there.

If you are creating a blog to give "useful advice and help people" as you said, then you should turn some of that advice into YouTube videos. YouTube videos are a simple and fun way to drive people to your website or blog, and they do not require a ton of effort.

I would say don't pick a random domain but choose a domain name with your main keyword in it. Remember when people go to any search engine, they will type in a few words pertaining to what they are looking for. People are looking for solutions to a problem or problems. They want to know how to do or fix something. This is why I say have your main keyword in your domain name.
