At first I didn't see it either, I think though he means that the adsense in the navbar is a bit deceptive.

But, if they are violating it, why not report the site to Google and leave it at that. Isn't this just free advertising for them?

I don't see what's wrong with it - I put adsense on my directory because it makes it look less empty.

I personally think that the adsense will not help him to earn any money.

Adding some links and content would be good for this directory. :)

pretty sure its against adsense TOS to place adsense ads in confusing spots such as in menus like this

Yeah, i believe it does not violate any of the Google AdSense TOS, so the ads should be fine. Even tho its a nice trick to be honest...i just wonder whats his PPC rate lol.

It is a bit deceptive but nothing compared to most scammers out there. I would say that is a super mild case.

It does not appear there are any links in this directory, perhaps the owner is waiting to get PR before opening it up?

I think it is okay. There are worse kind of "deception" than this. I have seen submit button hidden among ads.

There is no violation in Google's eyes, they support the idea of blending in the ads with your sites look and feel. As long as the 'Ads by' bit isnt being hidden there is no violation.

jg123 and dvduval, the site does have links, did you try a search for something simple like 'a' or 'b'?

The site just looks new to me with low PR so hasn't had that many submits.

Personally, I have clicked on an Adsense link that said submit before. Putting your Adsense where the menu bar is expected to be can definately lead to inadvertant links.
