naming my blog

The blog name I'm thinking about can use a number for a word. For instance: bowling4dollars vs bowlingfordollars.
Anyone have any thoughts on using numbers in a blog name? Does it make any real difference? Or is it just personal preference?

    Thanks,
    kc

I think it makes it stand out more in search results and see nothing wrong with it. Actually did this as a lark for one of my blogs and haven't regretted doing it.

It does not make any difference in search but it should make sense for your users if you use number.

Its all about personal preference. if you plan to include a number in your blog name, make sure it is appealing enough. Also it should be easy for your audience to remember.

For instance bowling4dollars make sense but using something like bowlingdollars443 is not a sensible at all because no one is gonna remember it.

Rest assured there will be no problem at all.

    Happy Blogging

use of word "4" instead of "for" will be best suitable because user can easily remember ur url and it will be shot too.

Bowling4dollars would be easier to remember for your visitors, But If a person was doing an initial search for a bowling for dollars site, they would type in "bowling for dollars" I think.

@LarryMac - that may be true, but I think Google 'translates' the 4 into 'for'.

Try this search for tips for blogspot and notice the second and third results.

Also, I think Google treats the word 'for' just like the word 'the'. It basically ignores it for results. Those words are too common in the English language.

That result page also demonstrates how the result titles with the number 4 in it, jumps out at you. Catches the eye a little more.

It may have a little impact in SERP ranking for few keywords, but still I don't think it make any difference, i.e both are equally good!
