LOL, My pal just received an invoice from Namesco for a .com domain renewal - more than $35 per year I persuaded him to consider transferring away to Godaddy ($7 per year LOL) but ALAS! Namesco transfer away fee is £10 plus a 60 day wait period. They must be jokin' Is it legal to charge a transfer away fee? I think we will contact Trading Standards with regards of this. No wonder Namesco is still making losses after almost 15 years in business. I think that the renewal fees should be capped and companies like Namesco shut down. What do you think? Is it legal to charge for transferring away?
Yes, It is Legal, and almost every Company Charge Transfer Out Fee. Even Nominent (.co.uk Registrar) charge Transfer Out Fee. and specially when you accepted it as a terms and condition you can't do anything other then pay and transfer out. Suggestion for your pal that pay it and he can save much in future by renewing. Regards. Sam
