I´m doing some changes on a web page that wasn´t made by me and trying to link something to anchor points on another page. It´s a news sidebar that link to the different new on the newspage.shtml. For some reason the page is shtml and it uses javascript for the navigationbar. The links to the news page works fine on IE6 7 and firefox but the problem comes when it links to a named anchor on the news page. They work fine thou with firefox and IE7, it´s only IE6! Example of a name anchor: <table width="707" border="0"> <tr> <td width="452" height="200"><h1 align="justify" class="iracambi"><strong>InterAmerican Foundation Orientation Visit</strong></h1> <p align="justify" class="iracambi"><span class="bodytext2"><a name="inter"></a>Following the signing, in September, of the agreement On the sidebar: <LI><A HREF="news.shtml#inter">InterAmerican Foundation Orientation Visit.</A></LI> I can´t think what the problem is, some help will be very appreciated. Thanx in advance.
None of the solutions suggested worked I tried the id thing with no luck. Using only #inter for the link didnt work either, in that case it looks for the anchor link within the same webpage so I dont think that would be the solution since the anchor is on the news page. Does anyone think that the fact that is shtml and not html might be influencing?? I had never worked with that before so.. Any other suggestions would be very appreciated.
I can get it to work exactly as you have it, without the news.shtml, in both IE6 and FF. Have you tried refreshing your browser?
Hi guys It´s quite silly but the anchor links where not working on my local computer, I uploaded to the server indextest.shtml for Dan to have a look and it worked. silly. In case you still want to have a look: http://www.iracambi.com/english/indextest.shtml It still needs some things but that´s basically it. I´m using <a name="inter"></a> and <li><a href="news.shtml#inter">InterAmerican Foundation Orientation Visit.</a></li> and it´s working now... so.. Thank you very much for your help, your time and sorry about that, i should have test it online before posting. Cheers!!!
Were you looking at the .shtml files direct on your computer, or did you install a local testing server like XAMPP and view them from there? If it's the former of course it won't work since the SSI has to be processed by a server (that's capable of parsing SSIs), which the latter provides.
Dan Thanks for your help. I didnt know it wouldn´t work running it on the local machine, I should have thought of it!!! Anyway, it´s working now and I´m glad. http://www.iracambi.com/english/indextest.shtml I´m not a professional web designer but I do little things sometimes for fun. If I have to get some help again I will be coming here again. Cheers and thanks again.
