Namecheap Whois Protection Question

I'm interested in transferring my domain from Yahoo to Namecheap because of the free Whois Protection Namecheap provides. Namecheap says on their site that they provide the Whois Protection free for one year. I'm looking for a reliable domain seller that also includes Whois Protection for free or a minimal additional charge, so my question is this...

How much does NameCheap charge for the Whois Protection after the 1st year?

    Thanks.....:)

Taken from the front page of Namecheap http://www.namecheap.com/ , it is $2.88/year if you sign up for only 1 domain name.

Each Whois Protection subscription is not linked to a domain name but the 12 months subscription for it starts at the day when you got your domain name transferred to them.

If you have more than 1 domain name, you will get more than 1 Whois Protection, say you have 5 domain names and thus 5 Whois Protection but say you only need to protect one, you can assign up to that domain then the remaining 4, you can use to extend the term of that one Whois Protection thus giving you 5 years Whois Protection for that 1 domain name and none for the rest.

Privacy is only $2 per year at Dynadot for each domain you own, www.dynadot.com

Not sure if I understood about namecheap but sounds complicated.

No, it is not complicated. It is really simple. It just gives you the flexibility to use the Whois Privacy.

In my case, I run several business websites and for those, I kept my details public and I have some personal site which I want my details kept private. Since for each domain name I get from Namecheap, I am given one Whois Privacy is. If the Whois Privacy is linked to a particular domain name, I would have been stuck with many Whois Privacy which goes to waste. With Namecheap, those unassigned ones can be assigned to any domain name I have and can be used to extend those I use too.

For example, if I have 3 domain names , abc.com , def.com and ghi.com . I will get 3 Whois Privacy Subscription. I can use them for each of my domain names or I can use all 3 for 1 of my domain names.

Say I want to use it to abc.com , then I just assign one Whois Privacy Subscription to it. Once assigned, it will be linked to that account and run for a year. If the other two domain names do not need the privacy thing, I can use the two unassigned subscription from them and assigned it to abc.com so instead of just 1 year of Whois Privacy Subscription, it will have 3 years worth without costing me anything.

Sorry, it is supposed to be simple but I usually have the ability to complicate them ;)

I looked into transferring my domain to netfirms, but they don't support .us domains.....:(

Has anyone had trouble transferring domains from Yahoo to say 1&1 or other domain companies?
