Namecheap Hosting...Suck!

[rant] Just thought to let you guys know that they suck. Namecheap domains are awesome (I have 25+ domains with them for many years), but hosting isn't good. For the past 1 1/2 year my site have had a lot of downs and or sluggish. Currently it is down right now and I believe last week it was down for well over a day. They tend to blame it on "pilot error" or some of the people they are hosting it with. The way I see it is that they do not monitor much of who they host, they take their money and make action later which results on people like myself paying the price of having my site being down.

I have many hosting in many different places and before I even had hosting for $10 a year and the service was great, but if you think about it, Namecheap is a lot bigger than most of them resellers and yet Namecheap cannot provide the same level of service as the little guys.

If you search for Namecheap hosting suck, you'll find some not-so-satisfied customers.

I think Namecheap does not really run a hosting company, I think (I think) I read it somewhere that another company is running it...Peoplehost? I don't know and I cannot verify that, all I know is that they took the responsibility and someone has failed to upkeep and maintain an expected quality service that we believe they would offer, I have another month or so with them and I will cancel my account, I had already canceled one account in August and this one is next.

Just to let some of you know that may take Namecheap hosting in the future, search for them before signing up for a hosting account. [/rant]

well in my experience a company that good for domain name never been a good hosting. They try to spend more on one either hosting or domain registration and in the process they suck the other on.

Well if you go for Hosting why people always for dead cheap hosting. This cheap hosting may suit people you want to spent there relax time on blogging well not for professional blogging and money making.

If you want to make money out of your site look for some decent hosting plan. you get good hosting starting from $4 per month.

This are sites that are kinda idled at the moment and it don't make sense to house it in a more expensive plan. I think Namecheap charges $40 a year? for basic. Call it cheap, but I have had much cheaper and better at 99.9% up time, Namecheap on the other hand is probably at 88% up time (guess).

I think that is better to use domain name registration services for the domain name registration purpose only

I think so, I went with them because they do have a great domain service, but they failed on hosting despite that they are on their third year? and still has not improve much.

Yes I would skip Godaddy as a host as well as any other domain sellers, they can't get it right. One day someone will.

Both of them started as domain name registrar. If you really want good web hosting service you'd better shift to the webhosting company which have web hosting service as core service.

I'm hosted with many different web hosting company, Namecheap is just one of them and the last. AptHost (14 months with them) seem to be the best one so far.

Just wanted to update this since AptHost has a new owner 2 days after I said "they are one of the best so far", well ever since the new owner took over, it had suck. Funny on what new ownership can do. Things were fine and had no issue with them until I notice in the past couple of months things got really slow and things started lagging and site going off-line, support department will try to sell you a dedicated server on a site that requires less than 20MB of space and less than 1GB of BW to run (low resource). Stay away from AptHost.

    Hi,
I only use Namecheap for domain names. I find Dreamhost great for web hosting. Their support are real fast when there is problem with my blog. Most of the time it is problem caused by incompatible plugins I used on the blog.

Personally I use domain registrar only to register domain, that's it.
For hosting requirement, go for hosting company for professional support and expertise.
