Yeesh, I am glad I have mine on auto renewal through my host.

I think all you need is a nice letter from a lawyer and that should expediate this for you. Why do companies make you fight for everything anymore? It's outrageous!

Wow settle down buddy. First off, namecheap didn't "steal" your domain... It sounds like you were "hoping" you would get a free year off of them.

Exactly my point. This makes no sense. Just cause a Waiter charges you less than you should pay for your dinner and then brings you a new bill that is higher, does that mean you should only pay the lesser? Namecheap is clearly not at fault here.

i had a bad experience with Namecheap.com... i tried transferring one of my domain name and it failed and then they never refunded my payment and when I asked for it then they locked down my account and ask for $50 for reactivation fee. this is the worst experience regarding domain with this registrar.

Do you have a copy of the original invoice/email confirmation?

While that usually works, the recipient can always toss that in the trash bin.
I've already given an explanation behind the OP's issue if anyone else cared to
    read it.

Folks, it's been almost a month since the topic started and there has been no
response. We can consider this practically closed.

Cynically speaking, you can't trust anyone, period. You just learn and you just
    take your chances.

I have used Namecheap for all my domains. If they did as stated, the OP would have received many emails reminding him/her of the expiration date. I decided not to renew my whois on one of my domains and I received at least 10 notices that it was expiring.

It is your own responsibility to keep track of your domains. I am sure it is a pure case of failing to renew and now blaming Name Cheap.

If domains r entering grace period then generally the domain registrar emails you and ask to renew and u could have set the autorenew on. I never had domains at neamecheap and will not have in future due to this.

Namecheap is my registrar of choice. They are not the least expensive, but they are a good price and have provided me with fantastic customer service. When I had an issue with a domain transfer in, they promptly canceled it and refunded my money. I've had to contact them a couple of times with questions and received complete and accurate answers quickly. I've let a few domains go that I had through them, and they started the emails to let me know they were expiring a month out. I also have records of all my purchases, so if an issue like this were to come up, I would be able to verify the number of years purchased by order/transaction ID.

I hope those of you who say you are not using Namecheap because of this thread will read through it. Namecheap is one of the top registrars out there.

Where does Namecheap auction their domains? Do they auction via snap or namejet, or do they have their own platform?

    http://www.namecheap.com/marketplace/

You can check them out here.

To the OP. You should always double check to make sure you did pay in the first place and keep printed out copy's of payment information of everything. Documented proof is better then I SAID THEY SAID stuff.

And they won't help for something like this. Besides, it looks like it's resolved.

    Hi there.
I used to have many domains hosted on NC.
Then I noticed domains disapearing from the control panel 1 or 2 days before their expiration.
I paid the 200$ fee (or theft) for recovering one of them.

Now I have one of my domains expired since 9 months and they refuse to release it to public for a new registration...like it should.
    They're a fraudolent company.
I'm moving all my domains away.
Their support guys keep bouncing all my requests since months with pointless and useless replies.
I'll be contacting them through my lawyer.
DO NOT REGISTER YOUR DOMAIN ON NAMECHEAP !
