A friend of mine did a search for her name on google, she found one result which certainly made her mad, it was on a porn site. The site is a search engine result scraper type site. My friend is a published writer, so she has some actual search results coming up for her name. The porn site, scraped the search results from one of the search engines for her name, and placed those on their site. It shows up on the porn site much like an RSS feed. When I click the headings on the "articles" or "feeds" that are supposedly about her, it simply goes to another search engine result scraper page. The porn site also has results such as "find more about (her name here) on ebay" "Shop amazon for (her name)" etc. I tried to explain to her my limited knowledge of search engine result scraper software but it seem to make her any less upset about it. I sent a spam report to google, but outside of that, is there anything I can do about this?
How does she know it is her and not one of the million or so other people in the world and in fiction that probably share her name?
my website comes up on porn sites its where I would most of my spam comes from if its just here name it could also be some one else with the same name does the links go back to her pages?
I was going to answer this the same as others, it's just a name and who knows if they are using "her" name or someone else's name that just happens to be exactly the same as hers. Tell her to just forget about it, she'll just stress herself out and worry over something that is 100% out of her control. There's enough things in life to stress us out that we have control over and need to focus our energy on those instead
Hah!! Katie Holmes is pissed off because one Katee Holmes is going to lose her virginity on screen (In a porno flick) So what she can do?? Nothing...
Quite a few of you asked how she knew it was her name, and not just someone with the same name, I guess I didn't explain it very well. let's say you do a google search for your name. In the results you will likely find some results that are actually about YOU. For example, when I search for my name on google I find results about stuff when I was in college, articles I have written for websites, websites I own, etc. Then, as we all know, those search engine results give the top 10/20 links and a couple of sentences under the link. Those search results (her name AND the sentences that display under the links) are then scraped and placed on the porn site. So the results are about "her", because they are the same results that come up if you do a search for her name on one of the search engines. It is not a case of simply someone else having her same name. But yes, it appears there is nothing that can be done about it. Thanks for the feedback.
