I have just tested out 5 keyword ideas for up-and-coming themes/niches in "google trends" and it doesn't pick show them as emerging trends. http://www.google.com/trends Either I'm wrong, or google is wrong. Blah to google. So is google trends useless as a tool to add in our armory for predicting adwords niches? Or has anyone got any good ideas how on to use it for the adwords research cause.
If i am not wrong, trends is not a predicting tool, it just shows you the search trends during the recent past.
it was just a random thought, that maybe google tool can be used "sideways", in a similar way to how we use google suggest to find associated long tail keywords.
I don't think you'll be able to use any tool to predict future trends. Like RovingColypso said, it's mostly for trends in the recent past.
Me too, there is no sure way to predict anything. With Google changing rules rapidly every month or so, who know what can happen!!
I am not a huge fan of google trends. The best way to tell if a niche is hot is just to test it. There is only so much research you can do and you will never be 100% sure till you test it.
You can see the past with Google trends, but you have to be intuitive and draw conclusions to predict the future. Keep up with business and marketing news -- read news tipsters blogs, and watch CNN money. Buy domains when some new business hot money maker that the gurus say is going to be the "next big thing." Try to have some common sense to see if something is just a trend, or might actually be the next big thing or where things are moving. Put up some content on the domains. Get some links, and let it sit. Check the competition level of ads, by searching under the most common relevant words. If there is less than 3 or 4 ads, go for it! Be the first to write an ebook about the subject, and then you'll be the expert. When something hits, you'll already have a keyword rich domain, and can reap the organic results benefits as well. : ) There ya go, venture capitalism in a nutshell.
Yeah, I think like seostew says, you're looking for niches outside of Google, not inside Google. Niches come from the outside world. We people in the business tend to be forgetful about this, but nothing really originates from Google. Google is a reflection of the world.
You can Check Top Sellers on Amazon: http://amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/ref=sv_gw_3/002-5106465-1446429 Sometimes I check Yahoo Answers to see what people are asking about. http://answers.yahoo.com/ And, if I happen to catch a Morning show talking about new gadgets, I'll try to find an affiliate program that has the new gadget. Then I'll setup a landing page & try it out on adwords. This has worked well for me
thanks for the feedback. I appreciate your words seostew, flip and manx... I have plenty of niche ideas to test!
