what's this Google PR thing? Ive been browsing the forums and I see it mentioned but I have no idea what it means or how important it is. Can someone fill me in? (apologies if this is in the wrong area, im sure the PR thing is Google related?)
You can choose from either of these two descriptions: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Page_rank http://www.google.com/technology/pigeonrank.html
Google PR stands for googl page rank. Its the way Big G ranks your website from scale 0-10 . Ranking is based on unique content, backlinks, your site popularity and several other things. It is updated once 3-4 months (correct me if wrong ). The more PR, the more value of your website. You can find more in wikipedia. Thanks
Google PR means google Pagerank. Basically "PageRank is a link analysis algorithm used by the Google Internet search engine that assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of "measuring" its relative importance within the set. The algorithm may be applied to any collection of entities with reciprocal quotations and references." Source
PR is only a website quality ranking by google but a high pr doesn't guarantee top results, so focus on ranking high for your keywords and don't waste your time on only building PR rankings. I'd rather have a PR1 site in the top 10 than a PR5 site in the third page.
Its one of those things you shouldnt pay too much attention to IMO. These days it doesnt have as much effect on serps.
Agree with all the posts above, and it's one of the most important factors to rank websites within Google search engine
A meaningless but fun number that people obsess over even though it doesn't have too much to do with your SERPs.
PR is Page Rank. It shows how popular your website is with Google. You can see your PR in the google toolbar. You'l get used to it... Just search page rank on google and you will be all set.
