    hey guys,
I'm really really new to web design and web programming and I've been reading up quite a lot on ruby on rails.
I just wanted the websites below use to code their front end user interface.
    http://www.groupon.com
    http://www.metrotwin.com/
    http://www.shopify.com/
    http://www.twitter.com/

I know that all these sites use RoR to code their back end but what do these sites use that make it 'look good' i.e the user interface and the graphics

I apologise for the noob talk and I appreciate any and all help
    Thanks

They use the same things that every other site on the internet uses...

    - html
    - css
    - javascript / ajax
    - Nicely designed images using Adobe products ( Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, etc.. )

Design is a talent... It's an art... Some have and some don't... They also have BUDGETS to work with which gives them access to a highly skilled/talented pool of people to choose from.

They also spend a lot of time testing there user interfaces with focus groups so they can get feedback on user interface, user experience and aesthetics.

Regardless of what language you use for development, design along with UI/UX can make all the difference in the world.

    Cheers!~
