I have a 3 month old site where I have submitted a google site map and in WebMaster Tools it reports about the sitemap that: Submitted Feb 12, 2008 Last downloaded by Google Feb 21, 2008 Total URLs in Sitemap 64 Indexed URLs in Sitemap 31 That is all fine but if I check on Google using site:www.duimc.com it returns zero results which means it is not indexed or showing up in any search results. What gives? Why does Google say pages are indexed when they are not. I have newer sites with less backlinks that have gotten indexed in a fraction of the time. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
When I put in the words "addition, the Marin County DA has made it a policy of being tough on DUIs and will almost" from your home page, I get your home page. I suspect the site:duimc.com search is not being done correctly but that the pages ARE indexed.
When i checked site:duimc.com, it returned 45 web pages & site:www.duimc.com, returned 0 web pages. This happens when you have not permanent redirected non www to www in your website. Google regard duimc.com & www.duimc.com as two different web pages of your website. So when your are giving site search for www, it showing no result found But when ony your site name, its showing 45 results. My suggestion will be to login in Google Webmaster Tools, then verify your site if not, then there is feature called "Set Preferred Domain". Just select your preferred domain i.e with www or without www. Once setup, Google will trete the webapge as one only. For more information, see googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2006/09/setting-preferred-domain.html Another option is to permanent redirect non www urls to www. why my site not Indexed: Property Status Sitemap type Web Submitted Feb 13, 2008 Last downloaded by Google Feb 19, 2008 Total URLs in Sitemap 118 Indexed URLs in Sitemap 0 Here's my sitemap: http://elixshops.com/google_sitemap.php
google may not index your site immediately after submitting a new site map. you have to wait a week or two. also, if its been a few weeks and your pages are still not indexing, it's because your pages contain problems or are not unique here are some problems with pages that will halt indexing: incorrect meta tag usage (spamming) non-unique content per page spamming keywords in content of body your site has been marked by google as a spammer site invisible text in your content used to boost search engine results not enough words in content, you need a good deal of writing per page for google to consider it useful the list goes on -Saam
Also i just noticed, your links on your site aren't exactly search engine friendly (SEF). your pages are generated by php script, thus you will have filename.php?content=# i would suggest modifying your cms to search engine friendly URLs, it helps dramatically. if you are using joomla, i suggest using sh404SEF -Saam
