Around January 1, one of my sites' AdSense CPC plummeted by about 80% and has stayed that low this whole month. Does anybody have any idea why? My traffic/views and click-through rate have stayed pretty much the same. The only thing I can think of is that in November I moved the server from a host in the UK to one in the US.
if your site targets at something seasonal, that could be the reason why you are seeing advt spend going down. If that's not the case, you might want to see the kind of ads showing up and block the ones that are popping up regularly to check if there is an improvement in cpc. Thanks, cn
its all about offer and demand, just like the poster above mentioned, if you are writing about let's say christmas gifts, the price is bound to drop in january, if on the other way you start writing about january sales, its bound to rise in january and february, so if you keep following trends cpc keeps high. this applies to everything.
Try to tweak your content by adding a paragraph or two that contain different keywords, or rewrite parts of the current content.
CPC really sucks these days. And it seems that none is going to change. So better search for alternative ways of monetizing website.
This usually happens in January. Advertisers spend a lot of money on their advertising budget leading into Christmas and by January, either their budgets are a) exhausted or b) seriously depleted. January is not only the start of a new quarter, but it's the new year and it will take at least a few weeks and perhaps even a month or two for advertisers to ramp up their budgets again. Patience, it will pick up again.
