Hello everyone. My site is running very slowly and my hosting provider responded with the following message. Unfortunatly I don't know how to go about fixing this. My hosting provider has said they have restarted MySQL and that the site is fine. I had asked them to increase the max connection (which is currently set at 500) but they skirted the request. I also have my config.php file set to "0" for PERSISTENT CONNECTIONS. I am getting the following errors sent to me by email: Any help would be greatly appreciative. Thanks
Well far from knowing the techy side but -- Is your MySQL local or on a shared system as if shared then others my also be slamming the data center -- ask your provider if you are shared what are the others using as its ment to be equal How big is your forum i.e online member ect would help P>S upgrade from 3.0.7 now
Assuming you really do have persistent connections disabled, something seems to be holding the connection open. You probably are going to have to get some support from the vBulletin developers on that.
I have a lot of hacks and have been dreading the upgrade. I guess I should just do it. My member base is over 4000 and we have over 30,000k unigues a month, so that is not large by any means but it's not small either. I have contacted vBulletin and they say it's a server issue. Of course the hosting provider says it is a software issue. My host is still examing the issue and it has been upgraded to someone who has alot vBulletin experience, so I will wait till I hear from them before I upgrade. I was just hoping someone had experienced this before and knew what to do.
My site is on a semi-dedicated account, and I have access to SSH. Where can I find someone to hire that will help me tweak it. I have been looking for a backend admin for sometime and haven't had much luck finding someone. Most of the ones I have talked to don't have the time or just do not want to play with the smaller fish.
This link might help if you read all of it , but sounds like you need to upgrade and go dedicated I did this last week and all mysql error vanished as I was the only one calling on the system and not 10 other shared users VB blamed the host and the host blamed VB before hand
yeah, maybe it is time for you to move one ... move on to dedicated, for a forum of 4000 users i'm amazed your still on shared..
The server only has two accounts on it, mine and another. No more sites can be added. But, your right I should make a move to a dedicated. We are in the process of doing a redesign maybe when that is complete I will make the move. Anyway - the hosting provider didn't say what was wrong, but they fixed the problem. I am going to ask them what they did to fix MySQL so I will know in the future.
To be honest, i would personally stay on a shared server until i had at least 10,000 members. But i guess most of the people in this thread are correct, get a dedi. There are some cheap and nice ones at layeredtech.com. Rob
I am running vbulletin on dreamhost (shared) It cant handle only my load. Its my first day, I just installed it on and the server started gettin 500 error, I asked support they said I have to move on VPS.
