I wonder how much this url would fetch? As much as someone is willing to pay...lol. No, but seriously, is this a good url to try and sell?

Personally I don't like .net domains, and they don't seem to fetch as much as .com's.

Does anyone know if they act differently in search engines? You never seem to see a .net ranking...

Do a search http://www.uspto.gov/main/trademarks.htm & I'm sure you'll find that "Myspace" is TM.

I read somewhere that this lady made a living designing myspace pages for its members: not a bad way to make a living since she's a stay at home mom.

That name benefits people like that. BUT its TM. So, its a double edge sword. If you sell for $20, its worth it.

The name of my domain is not myspace. My domain name is myspacemedia. See the difference?

But it still has MySpace in it so there still could be potential problems. What would you see this name developed as? Would it have anything to do with Myspace stuff at all?

As far as I know as long is used for different purpose than "myspace" shouldn't be any problem. I will suggest to do little bit more research, the name itself sounds good and can be used for computer stuff...

Because the name is different there will be no legal issues. There's no way I would even go there. I wouldn't want to develop the site only to have to pull it as I have a lot of time invested in developing it so far, and I would not want to be sued - yikes! My website http://www.myspacemedia.net has nothing to do with the well know myspace.com. myspacemedia.net although similar, was chosen for seo purposes. I am developing the website for personal use. I plan to expand the site to generate revenue with a few tasteful ads. I am an AM for OfferFusion an online affiliate network so I have access to thousands of advertisers CPA, and coreg campaigns. I am a little overwhelmed at the moment because of all the potential for the website. I need to focus on a niche. At present I am gearing the site toward technology which is a passion of mine. The site will continue to grow. Right now I am experimenting with different templates. Hard to choose the look and feel I'm going for. If you check my site now I'm certain it will be different if you looked at it yesterday...lol.

Thanks for posting your reply, and genuine concern. Yes, I am gearing the site toward computer stuff, media, and technology. Cool, you get it already which is reassuring as the site is new. I love technology so I am gearing the site toward my passion and hey...who doesn't like technology?
