I went through this forum and I don't see any page talking about myspace. Does Myspace still work for anyone here as a traffic source and for SEO? I have about a lil over 1k friends on my facebook page and i was getting about 10 hits from myspace a day. So I figured If I keep adding friends and get 50k friends I will have 500 hits a day from myspace. What are your thoughts?
That's not exactly how it usually works, but you're probably in the ballpark. I say give it a shot, try some stuff out and see how it converts. Anywhere people gather there is a marketing opportunity. The problem with myspace is that it's been so spammed to death that the people left on there pretty much ignore anything they see resembling an ad. The only exception I see is myspace games and things like those glitter sites (to spice up your myspace profile) seem to still get a lot of traction with the users. I say if it isn't costing you a lot of time and money to aqquire friends on there, then it's certainly worth a try. What are you trying to sell on there?
I am not selling anything on my myspace page, But I am using it to direct traffic to my website, increase popularity, and ofcourse SEO. my myspace page is www.myspace.com/submissionfc
Yes, it still works, but the traffic in Myspace is no longer that overwhelming as compared before. These days, I only promote links on Myspace groups, and not on individual pages. I have switched to Facebook for it generates more traffic.
but the only problem with facebook is there cracking down on those abusing it, and might flag you as abusing if your borderline spammy
depends on your market, is your market teens looking for dates then use myspace otherwise use facebook.
myspace is laying on its back and not evolving anymore. twitter and facebook makes much more trafic for websites.
i have an account in myspace but i seldom visit there. the annoying spams and lots of porn profiles made me feel uncomfortable every time i log in...
