Myspace Sites eCPM dropping?

Is it just me or has the eCPM for Myspace sites been dropping tremendously over the past 1-3 months? I'm now effectively making 20% of the income I was making just 2 months ago. All I'm going to say is I was making over $1000+/month, but I'm not going to give exact figures in case of TOS violations. Take 20% of that and you'll see how a possible alternative income stream has now just turned into pocket change.

My eCPM has gone up a lot over the past few days. Have you managed to change your ads around or anything?

Nope, most of the ads were kept the same except for one ad unit. The one ad unit I changed resulted in double the CTR. Traffic has remained fairly consistent.

Well, have you implemented any new content lately? If traffic has stayed the same, then your eCPM will drop.

No new content. I own more than one site. The other sites' eCPMs have stayed relatively the same. Only the Myspace one dropped. The Myspace site gets 80% search traffic and 90% of the visitors are completely new. Never heard about eCPM dropping just because traffic stayed consistent unless it's a ton of return visitors not clicking ads.

Okay... The problem is that's there's not a lot of new content. Add new content today and see if your eCPM goes up. The fact is your eCPM dropped because there's no new unique content. If you want your eCPM to continue to stay high, then implement new content to try to attract new visitors.

So you are using the same ad' as you have been for a while then ?

I notice that even at the end of one week my ad's are less effective (another ad' network though), I change my ad's weekly as I believe they get stale, usually because the people/visitors who surf the site are used to seeing the old ad' and start to ignore it - or potential visitors have already visited. Try alterring the ad'.

(oh I think I may be wrong, after eading all posts again - ignore ramblings if I'm reading into this wrong)

It's just that I don't really get repeat visitors. Once again, 90% of all my traffic is completely new to the site. They come to the site, grab the layout, and leave. Ad placement shouldn't be an issue if they've never seen such an ad placement before.

Earnings have been consistent up until recently.

Of course there's always outside factors, which is what I'm trying to determine now. Forgotten mentioned just adding new content, but that doesn't explain the fact that it's been consistent up until this point. There's a lot of outside factors for SmartPricing which can't really be determined such as conversion rate and advertiser bids. I was suspecting the advertiser bids were going down so I was wondering if other sites were seeing a drop in eCPM.
