I wrote a blog post about this. Myspace is getting seriously out of touch with Facebook and has become cluttered and chunky!
i totally agree. i was once a huge user of myspace customizing many diffrent profiles. I dont even have a profile anymore. sad.
It is slightly sad that it's become so poor recently, it has such a huge user base that I still "want" to use it, it's just it's so slow nowadays that I find it almost unusable.. also it's really annoying that people can play music automatically on their profile, the first thing I have to do when I visit someone's profile is press pause...
What I find worse is that Facebook is turning into MySpace, I use Facebook personally and myspace for marketing, etc.
I hate myspace these days as soon as they started censoring links, I left sorry, but I NEED to know what I'm clicking myspace!
In your profile settings you can disable all music from starting when you visit someones profile. Also why would myspace want to be "in touch" with facebook?
You are wrong. Its not myspace its the profiles that use all those free myspace layouts that mess everything up.
I agree, I hate myspace. Mainly because people clutter their profiles way too much with crap and then it takes hours to load. Myspace needs like 10 more servers.
"In your profile settings you can disable all music from starting when you visit someones profile."# You can, but nobody ever actually does... "Also why would myspace want to be "in touch" with facebook?" Because facebook is growing at a faster rate, works better, is more usable, and has more potential than myspace,
myspace is crap tbh. they got totally owned by facebook. FB corrected everything that was wrong with myspace.
MySpace gave users too much control. The fact is most people are not professional web designers, and they don't know anything about usability. They just cram every feature they like onto their MySpace, and as a result they have a slow-loading page that nobody wants to look at. Facebook is offering more customization than they used to, but they are still doing it in a controlled way. The applications have to be designed the way Facebook wants, and they are only able to add to a profile, not customize the standard things that are already there. This way, Facebook profiles are kept clean and it's harder to get a virus to spread using the site (MySpace is a constant target due to its loose user restrictions).
Good point Dave, I think myspace was just too customizable and whilst that may have given them a few more users and added a bit of a "wow" factor when initially using it, the novely wore off a long time ago..
wow, seems to be alot of negative sentiment about myspace - I think the speed has actually improved, and the quality control/spam control is improving - it works well for putting my art site out there http://www.myspace.com/artworldchicago and networking etc. - and not as well for my trading/investing site http://www.myspace.com/traderslog - but not bad for that though either - such a huge user base that I've been able to network with many people in that industry too -
I'll admit it is a shame that myspace is so rubbish in comparison to FB. It's a shame they haven't tried to make it look nicer, easier to use etc... that was my main reason for not using it, as I couldnt easily find links to edit things, so I just gave up. As to FB growing quicker, that's only to be expected considering how FB has a lot let users. I don't think it's a massive issue right now, but it could be in say 5-10years. But I'm sure it'll act when its forced to.
facebook will soon be and sorta already is a cluttered mess too.. half the stuff your friends have, you have to install the app yourself to even view..
It's a good point buck, but I do get the sense that facebook know what they're doing and won't completely destroy facebook, they listen to they're users.
