MySpace Marketing... How?

I have been hearing about advertising through MySpace and their bulletin systems for a while now. However, I still don't have much either about it after reading exaro's thread on MySpace. Can someone give me an idea how to get started and exactly how effective is this channel of advertising now?

You have x amount of freinds.

    Some poeple have 1, 5, 500, 1000, 100000, even millions of friends.

You then post a bulletin which appears as a message to all of your friend list.

So more people on your friend list the more people to advertise too.

Lots of people hate bulletins, and don't even read them. They are only effective if the friendbase are legit uses.

No point starting an account from trains etc when the people on the trains are spammers just like you who joins the train!

But thats the gist of it.

That's some good insight to MySpace marketing. Thanks for making it into simplier terms for me. I read about another type of MySpace marketing that works through the messaging system. How effective is that? Isn't it like email spam in another form?

Hmm... In that case, is it better to have your own account or just pay someone to put up a bulletin for you?

I just got my own profile. How does a profile look like? Does it just promote your website or just have something related to your website?

    make it look real.
but have banners to your site. if it looks too fake then myspace will delete it.

ORiN, you have just said in another thread that you have moral issues with posting to mass audiences and what-not, and you really want to get into myspace marketing, the only reason it works is because there is lots of people...lots of random people that you dont know....isnt' that just spam in its newest form?

dont worry about pissing people off...they are used to it now ;)

I bought once a bulletin for a 120.000 myspace account. I received a lot of traffic but didn't earn the money back what i paid for the bulletin.

Will not use the bulletin again because it was not worth is for me. But maybe for somebody else it will work.

The biggest factor now is that people are catching up, and the market for layout sites etc... is getting saturated.

I'm moving on to other services.
