    Hi guys,

have you noticed that myspace recently added new featurte which encodes links, and as result all of those who had links back to their websites will end up with 0 back links?

ie myspace is useless now for link building...

Yeah, I had these accounts made to bring in some aff money and it looks like they redirected those to a link called msplinks.com. Weird, it does not allow me to change them back either.

Myspace always was useless for link building. A link from there isn't going to be worth squat for SEO.

Things are starting to heat up in the Social Networking Industry.
I love it. It reminds me of all the jockeying for position at the end of the 90's.

And I always hated My Space anyway.

MySpace killed itself how? 99.9% of its users are oblivious to what a backlink is.

There are ways around the msplinks.com redirect they implemented. I've had good results with myspace backlinks.

Now is likely a good time for them to do it, they won't lose many services by screwing with backlinks to sites.

Newer sites tend to need webmasters to like them. Those that made lots of money on myspace had an easy way to market, IE: tools and stuff all linked back to their sites. Instant viral marketing, and it helped with their rankings.

This fostered a plethora of myspace support sites which help users do various things. All of those myspace support sites are likely losing big money with all their referrals (from myspace) cut off.

Luckily for myspace they have an established market position and no matter how much they screw with the webmasters out there, their site won't go downhill as a result (of this screwing).

Of course myspace could just die because its an giant ugly beast of an adsense whore.

I agree, this isn't going to kill myspace, just makes it harder for us to get backlinks from it.

The bottom line is, none of these sites care about the webmaster. We are the enemy looking for a way to exploit the marketing benefits.
They are out there for the average user on the web, that knows how to surf and do email.
I still have friends who think they are on the cutting edge, or have found "The Real Internet" because they found Digg.
We are the minority on the internet in terms of actual users, and we don't spend money on sites like these..we try to create sites like these to get other people to spend money.

So they will do what they need to, to protect their interest from people like us who are looking to exploit, copy and piggy back their success.

    It's called Business.

So the big secret is using your site name for your screen name? That's not very impressive...
