It seems that MySpace is filtering out my bulletin... does anyone know how they do this? Is the filter based on the URL link in the bulletin, or on the text of the bulletin. I'm trying to figure out how to get around the filter.
I haven't heard that they do this, however I'd be really happy to see some sort of moderation happening. The ideal would be to have community moderation like digg, where you get X number of people objecting to a bulletin and bang it's in a formal moderation queue and taken off the list. That way, as a user, I'd read the bulletins knowing that even if I read spam I can stop someone else from having to, and that they in turn are stopping spam coming my way too.
That's a great idea! I don't so much mind people promoting their own nightclub/band/tshirt/etc business as described on their profiles - I figure they will do that when I "friend" them. It's all the other crap that should be somehow moderated. As for getting around the filters, maybe you could post a bulletin that encourages people to visit your profile, and you could have the link there.
i think the filter is based mainly on url but who knows they have been making some changes to fight bulletin spam
I don't think so. At least it seems like people figure these things out by trial and error. (Which would make sense if they are trying to stay one step ahead of spammers). There is usually discussion in the Myspace forums and in the computer/myspace-related groups.
People just need to stop spamming myspace. Now I don't have a problem with people advertising their site ( I am even looking into it) but far too many people go overboard and do not know how to act when they find a way to get free traffic from another site. These same people ruin it for others
Hi MediaMagnet Can you give us an overview of how the moderation works. I haven't seen anything that lets me report spam in bulletins or forums. PM me if you'd rather keep it offline.
That's why many people use urls with redirects or short urls now. Because of such spammers bulletins are not really worth to watch. If myspace marketing continues to grow this will be the single biggest problem for myspace in the future.
Don't you think it's a little short sighted to think myspace can't ban the most popular redirect sites?
Sure they can though now it seems they are just struggling to keep their own network from collapsing.
