Nah, separate demographics -> Music and Young Trendsters do MySpace

People looking to Network and Build relationship -> Facebook

I agree with Dexx. It's not so much that they "won" anything, but they are definitely favored by different markets.

I have both, but I hardly check myspace anymore. It's cluttered with spam and crap, and it seems to be the playground for frustrated little kids.

On facebook, I'm connected with most of my friends, and people I went to school with. It's better for people in my age group (I'm 31) because we don't want flash and glamour as much as just the functionality. But when you're 15, the bright, flashy seizure inducing myspace is a lot more exciting and fun.

I did a casestudy on this two websites. And the conclusion is this, this two sites right now target different user base. At some point this userbase overlaps but mostly myspace is used by young artists who want to get noticed... and facebook is used by school mates to keep in touch. In a sense if I want to know what my friends are doing on friday, I go on facebook... if I want to know what my favorite dj is playing lately in clubs I go on myspace... different use for this sites.

I think what you say has a point, but as a facebook user, previously a myspace user, i'd given facebook preference upon joining, since it was simpler to use

    I agree; different demographics.

I used Myspace a lot in high school.
Facebook reigns king in college though.

But, for the record, I use neither now. :)

Yep, different demos...just look at the traffic stats on quantcast.

They may have lost the battle of most intelligent/not spammy site but myspace is always going to be in the top 2

There is no battle. The time for myspace has come and gone. In a few months something will come along that will replace facebook.

The internet is an every changing sea of technology. Sooner or later everything will be outdated and replaced.
