this is an article on internetnews.com "It's official. MySpace is the most popular stop for members having lots of time on their hands. But who cares that the social-networking behemoth is so popular if it isn't making any money? Not only is MySpace America's most popular social-networking site, having earned 79.9 percent of the market in June according to a Hitwise study released this week, but it is also America's most popular Web site, representing 4.46 percent of all Internet traffic." the article can be found here http://www.internetnews.com/ec-news/article.php/3620211
Check out this article Now I know why u guys jumped on those myspace turnkeys, I use myspace, I know my space and I will build something that a search angine can find, something more then a turnkey lol
the study that showed myspace was #1 was completely flawed. I'll have to find the link to that article again.
I haven't read the article (yet), but from what you've quoted, those statistics look like complete bull.
I don't see what the tremendous appeal of myspace is...but I guess a simple idea can surely catch on...
Myspace has its cool points but it is ironic that the same group of people the make this site a success are also the same group of people (mindless teens) that have made it one huge pop-culture cesspool. I still like the site but the quality has been quite diluted for networking, which is the premise of the site.
I still feel that the vanity of Myspace will eventually wear off...Social Networking sites are popping up all over the place, perhaps we will recall Friendster, Facebook...all those services, they all have their hayday, then all go away lol
The central question is unique visits. 2% of the population that hits 20 times a day seems like a big deal. Jim
There are actually a lot of webmasters on there. Of course, when guys log into myspace, they easily get sidetracked by the girls, and don't see it. And then they blame MySpace for it
