Im debating using myspace for getting traffic back to my site, and possibly for SEO/pagerank purposes.

    my questions:

HOW does this guy's page: http://www.myspace.com/pixelsforcars
have a PR of FOUR???? I checked goog for his backlins, and he only has one that i can see???? Am I missing something?

    any thoughts appreciated

Are myspace users the traffic you want?

Go for it then! MySpace is a huge market, one I've recently tapped into. It really depends on the niche you are targetting though.

Maybe he has lots of unique content that's updated regularly? Or perhaps google is hiding some backlinks you can't see ...

That would be my guess - Google is notorious for under-reporting backlink data...

That's so funny that it's PR4. Anyway, it's kind of tough to promote through Myspace, the reason being that everybody that you can be-friend very easily is also looking to promote something, therefore if you try to post a bulletin or something, it'll 95% of the time be ignored, or just passed up within minutes by other bulletins.

I have first hand experience. I once paid this guy to post a bulletin on a 34k Friends account.. I was excited... I figure I can get a few thousand clicks... Wrong, I got 20 users to my site, for $10. Yeah I got jerked.

Anyway, it's really tough to get into, most of the top myspace sites you see on the SERPS have won through age, they do do some promoting, but I doubt the promoting they do has any significant effects.
