I've seen seen some places say that only 500 friend requests daily is recommended. Why is this?

I thought that myspace actually had a limit of 350 a day? I have reached that limit with my band site listed below.

This is most likely to limit resources needed to run the system and a small attempt to stop spam issues.

the limits are in place no question.

for instance you can only send 200 comments a day before you get an error message.

you can make unlimited numer of requests a day but the rumor is that if you go over 500 the account will be deleted. I do not know if that is true. Before I knew about the limit I'm sure I went well over 500 on several occasions and I never got deleted. But I suppose anyhting is possible in that regard.

that being said, I *think* you can make 500 requests per day but that number drops to 350 if you send a messge along with the request (like a band account for instance - check ou our band and add us type of message).

so from experience, If I just went and made 400 requests I wouldn't be able to send any mail messages.

the key is to look in the 'pending' box and see what has gone through...I guarantee you if you make 2300 requests in one day, only 500 of those would be sitting in your pending mailbox.

    Ok.

So I'm thinking about how to expand my myspace as fast as possible.

    Should I:

    a) Use a program like friendblaster to send tons of friend requests

    or

    b) use something like friendstorm.net to send friend requests. The more I send, the more points I get, and then the more people request me. But, the downside is this takes time rather than having an automated service.

What do you myspace gurus suggest?

that depends...will you be using this for personal use or will you try and sell it, thereby creating more competition for myself and the 77 others trying to "flip" accounts now???

    3 things:

    1) most people in this quadrant of DP aren't super fond of myspace, many don't "get it" but to each his own

    2) if it's the former I like the brute force method just b/c you can send messages, request, send comments, etc. I use it for my personal account and love it just for that reason(comments especially). friendstorm is great but it's quite time consuming like you said.

    3) if it's the latter, hand pick each friend, get to know them, invite them over for a BBQ...it's not quantity it's quality.

You can requests friends till you are blue in the face but once you hit 500 requests in any given 24 hour period, although it may seem like you are requesting friends as the buttons work, the extra requests will not go into your pending requests, so yes, there is a 500 request limit, but it's not per day, it's per 24 hours.

I think we're going to be competing :)

Anyway, how do you suggest I do it? I should obviously friend 500 people/day, but then how do I get people to friend me? Where do I place comments?

Can I only send 500 requests, or is the max number of pending requests 500?

So, if I send 500 and 1 person accepts, can I send another making my total for that 24 hours 501?

500 is 500 regardless of who accepts blindly or who emails you, "Do I know you??"

Ha, ya. I get a lot of those.

You were saying you especially like the commenting on the programs. Where do you comment to get requests? What is your system?

I'd reallly appreciate getting some advice.

Please PM me if you don't want to share with the world :)

you can only send 350 requests per day
but there is no limit to how many people can request you, so after you do 350 requests get on trains.
