So far I have tried about 10 so called do-follow blog lists which including totally 1000+ blogs. But most of the 1000+ blogs turned out no-follow.
In the real do-follow blogs I could not find a single commentable page that has PR>0.
I have spent about 50 hours on this. What's wrong with me?

Your first mistake: relying on an overused list that is no longer current.

With any list of dofollow blogs, those blogs will get hammered by many spammers. Not surprisingly many of those blog owners decide to switch to nofollow links to avoid some of the spam comments.

So if you want to rely on such a list, you have to find a very current/fresh list.

You would probably be better off just searching for the most relevant blogs yourself. If they are relevant enough, it wouldn't matter if they are nofollow because they could still send direct traffic. Google is the only search engine that uses nofollow attributes. So nofollow links still help rankings on other search engines.

I listed the blog in my sig with one of dofollow search engines and suddenly I was getting an average of about 100 comments a day. I shouldn't even call them comments, they were just giant blocks of 100 links, it was horrible. I kept the blog dofollow and kept top commentator plug-in but added captcha, solved the problem..

I don't understand what spammers try to accomplish with their tactics but it kills it for the rest of us.

Comment spam sucks! That's why Google has recommended nofollow on the comment areas. Try blogs or networks that require log-ins. Spam is lessened and nofollow is not as strict. Your comment scheme needs to be legit too... Not just bots or pasting in links. Moderation is the name of the game now so you need to deliver a valuable resource, not just a link. Those'll get chopped right away. Tell em why it's valuable in context of the ongoing conversations.

Don't try to comment on pages with PR, they will have tones of comments anyway. You should be shooting for new blog posts on high PR blogs. Many of these posts will go on to get PR and you will have a link on a high PR page.

Unfortunately, most blogs are now nofollow. I don't blame them either. What I suggest you do is, download the free version of Fast Blog Finder and use it to instantly search for related blogs within your niche. It will instantly show you the results highlighting the PR of the blog, the PR of the actual page, outbound links and whether the blog is dofollow or nofollow. It will also track all your comments and datestamp them for you.

Make sure you don't write spmmy posts. Take a minute or two to read what their post is about and then chip into the mix with a good helpful comment. Not a one liner saying 'Great blog!'. Don't add links within your comment, instead use your anchor text as your name (not too long) and then add your website to the URL field. This will now link to your website or inner page.

Do this and you will soon see the benefit. You will also get traffic from these blogs because you haven't spammed them. The only thing spam does is give you a bad name.

    Hope that helps.

    Andy

Spammers are lazy. They use 'magic button' concept - just type in your crappy links in spamming script and hit a button. Tada! - Gongratulation, meathead! You've just abused 1000+ blogs!

These guys killing me. Automated commenting software really kills whole the idea of blogging.

Searching around for dofollow blogs is a huge waste of time nowadays, and you just end up as a spammer. Spamming the shit out of pligg sites, blogs, directories etc is worthless now.

With the way google has cut off all the routes to get traffic, its a it of a "back to basics" time for SEO - good content plus traditonal stuff like word of mouth (forums email social media) and the old reliables such as banner exchanges, ad swaps on between similar sites and of course backlink building - naturally!

i think there's a firefox add-on that can automatically show you if the link is a no-folow or do-follow. maybe that will help. and i don't think its a waste of time, a few strong links will always do good, just make sure your comments a worthy, don't make it look like spam.

Yeah, it is hard to search for dofollow blogs nowadays. The directories that is claimed to have hundreds of dofollow blogs can't be relied on because most of them are nofollows now or the dofollow blog search turn out the same like a google search.

It's better IMO if you don't worry about PR or even if they're nofollow... comment when you see something you want to comment on in a blog. Sure, it might suck for link building, but either way it's not as much of a waste of time as searching specifically for them to comment on.

You're almost better off starting your own blog with the amount of time dofollow commenting can take & linking your site there

Check out my dofollow search tool.

I've kept it up and routinely remove sites that return to nofollow. I'm also working to only include blogs that are PR2+.

And you should always use firefox with a plugin that highlights the nofollow links in red.

I'm with thefandango. For link building, forums are far more reliable for do follow backlinks. Commenting on influential blogs still has value for networking, and bringing in traffic, so don't discount them completely.

I'd say I use forums for target traffic and blog commenting for better SE ranking.

I use a fireFox add on that shows the NF in red. If they do - I go onto another blog or forum. It has saved me a lot of time.
