    Hi Guys,

I have developed a new software to create PopUps you can add to your website.
Those PopUps draw your user's attention to where you want to have it and they boost your conversion rates!

    Here is the link: http://mypostup.com/

You can create post-its or MessageBoxes like these:

I really like the yellow one, but the grey one is too much like an ad, you know the type - "scan your computer now" etc.

Remember pop-ups of any kind are against TOS for adsense and YPN pages, sites or ads etc........

Not exactly. Those popups draw your visitor's attention all right. And they annoy them and encourage them to leave your spammy site as quickly as possible.

That's assuming the popups aren't blocked - and almost everyone these days has at least one popup blocker in operation.

My personal opinion: No one believes anything that is contained in a popup. Most people won't see it anyway because of popup blockers. Those that do manage to sneak through are closed without anyone reading the content because it will be assumed to contain some scam or spam. What's worse is it will be assumed that everything else on your site is a scammer's or spammer's paradise too and probably infected with spyware or viruses.

My advice is don't do it if you want to be taken seriously.

Another site telling people to use popups!
Geesh.....all that does is cause people to hit the old popup blocker on their browsers.
Or are you then going to sell people who use this service a popup blocker?
    HAHAHAHHAHAHHA

These arent popups, they are dev layer popins/popovers. They cant be blocked unless the user is disabling javascript. They may be annoying but I feel they really do increase conversion rates. And no im not affiliated with the OP's website :)

No, any kind of pup-ups. A website of my old boss got banned from AdSense & AdWords because of a pop-up with job information. He was trying to get a new programmer, all he got was a ban...

I dont know much about adsense but i do know a lot about adwords. It IS true that you arent allowed to send adwords clicks to a page with a popup but I dont think it will get you banned. When I first started out doing an adwords campaigns for someone with a popup on their homepage my ads ran fine and then got disabled with a message "no popups allowed" - as soon as I sent them to an alternate page they re-enabled my ads with no problem. So yes popups are not allowed and will disable your ads, but no you wont get banned.

Blocked or unblocked, I have a hard time believing they increase conversion rates. Anything that gets through a popup blocker for me gets an instant click on the little red X.

I have yet to meet anyone who doesn't hate the things.

I totally see your point, and yes its intrusive but at the same time some people hate banner ads and there are plenty of reputable sites littered with banner ads....some people hate ads at all especially when they are trying to search and that hasnt stopped google....Its all a matter of personal opinion but the fact is that a popup ad, especially an unblockable one does increase the likelihood that ad will be clicked...remember we are at a forum full of web experts, there are plenty of people that no little about the internet and have no real opinions about what they like and dont like that are coming to all of our sites every day. Just my thoughts...enjoy your day.

I think it is always a mistake to underestimate the intelligence of your visitors.

When I said "I have yet to meet anyone who doesn't hate the things", I wasn't talking about webmasters. I was talking about friends and family, the majority of whom are not webmasters but who are probably similar to the kind of people who buy products and services - the kind of people you do NOT want to annoy and turn away if you hope to be in business over the long haul.

I agree you don't want to annoy your visitors but like the one user to alert her visitors of contest it is great thing!

I think for special announcements etc it is great... especialy if after user sees it once they don't see it again.

    Agreed. That I could tolerate.

But if it were my first visit to the site, how would I know?

Daren Turner designed a site once where he counted visits via a cookie and used a popup for an announcement at visit #3 only. I can't remember the link or site name any more but I thought that was an interesting way of doing it, if you feel it must be done.
