myisamcheck only mysql stopped?

    Hello,
    i got again error like:
    I was not successfull finding way to scan mysql on cronjob and repair bad tables. But i listen about myisamchk bad is that its recommended to byckup table, because it can cause data loss :(
    so it (myisamchk) works safelly even mysql is not stopped?
