Hey, I recently bought 320Gb Western Digital MyBook and after a whole day of transferring data from my PC over to MyBook I am unable to access the data anymore. I used the external hard disk as my backup because I had to reinstall Windows and after I did that I tried to copy some of my files back to the PC and while copying it got slow and some error occurred and I couldn't turn it off (safely remove) so I rebooted the PC and after that the folder with my files has vanished!

On properties it is visible that 50Gb of data is used but the folder just disappeared, gone and I can't restore it anymore. I tried various HDD and USB recovery programs and they all suck because they stop at the bad sector (I can't run scandisk on my MyBook).

I tried HDD Regenerator but it works only on local hard drives, not external. To fix external hard drives you need to import the USB support and run it from Windows 95 or 98 (that's what I read on CNet forums) and I don't have that so I'm asking you is there any chance I can get my data back.

Disk is a week old but I can't send it back to the store because it contains information I wouldn't like other people to see so I'm asking you for help. Any suggestions?

P.S. MyBook sucks. Please don't buy it.
