    Which one do you think would do a better job for SEO? I'm currently using MyBB with a couple of mods installed but I'd like to get opinions before making the forum publicly known. Link is the codeshq link in my sig.

    And lets NOT dicuss VBULLETIN in this thread as it is a paid forum.

    i find mybb alot better less spam and the seo mods work a treat it looks nice and the ACP is easy to use oh and the mods go in just like VB none of this takes 2 hours 50000 file mods like phpbb

    I would go with phpbb over mybb, more mods I believe and it's just more secure and more updates in my humble opinion.

    the mods are what make phpbb sooooooooo easy to attack. Scriptys just look for SQL Injections or go to sites that show vulnerabilities and boom you have the mod then your sites defaced. Mybb has alot less vulnerabilities from what i have seen :D

    Maybe at the moment MyBB has less vulnerabilities but as more mods are made the script kiddys are sure to target some of the popular ones as they did with the phpbb mods.

    I prefer MyBB over Phpbb.
    You might want to have a look at SMF before deciding though.

    Most of the ppl who are preferring phpbb have never used mybb ......... I have used both & can tell Mybb rocks!!
    And when 1.4 version of Mybb is out ........ it would be comparable to many paid scripts!!!

    One of best comparisons would be mods installation ..... while in phpbb you have to edit each file with blah blah same while uninstalling it ....... in mybb it is simple plugin system just upload files via ftp and one click activation in admin panel & same for uninstallation!!

    once i used Phpbb and i was happy with it........
    i never tried the Mybb.

    Try Phpbb 3 New version, this is a much stable software.

    phpBB is great and my favirote. As for myBB I am installing it right now. My new projects will be on myBB. If it doesn't work out I will move them onto phpBB.

    What's that supposed to be? An example of a pre-seo modded forum? If you want to see a fully SEOd phpbb3 forum check this software forum. BTW, your layout is falling apart in Firefox.

    Well, not true since Easy Mod does the same thing for phpbb2. Unfortunately, they don't have it for phpbb3 yet.

    Oh what a sad thread.

    Mybb is FAR superior to phpbb in so many ways. Template system, plugin system, better coding and YES..MORE SECURE.

    Mybb patches VERY quickly..and the patches don't destroy my plugins or custom themes.

    SEO relies on many factors. I haven't had a single problem though getting my mybb forums indexed well. Hackforums.net for example (search google for hackers forum for my awesome position with relevent links). There is also a very easy to install SEO mod but 1.4 is going to have SEF url's as default option.
