I've been running YPN on about 1/3 of my site's pages, Adsense on the other 2/3. CTR for YPN continues to be below 1% on average while CTR for Adsense is more than 10 times that. But as I have been adding content and getting more traffic the earnings from YPN have started to catch up with Adsense. With half the ad impressions and 1/10 the CTR compared to Adsense, YPN is still doing well thanks to the much higher earnings per click. I also have been dumping Adsense in favor of YPN on pages that keep being served PSAs. Adsense seems picky about stop words or something on some of my pages so I just get rid of that PSA crap and end up with reasonably relevant revenue ads from Adsense. Sometimes the YPN ads aren't relevant at all, some crazy stuff sometimes, but the visitors click them sometimes, maybe out of curiosity. Better than PSAs.
Hi Geomark, I've had a lot of issues with AdSense PSAs, as well, and have been using Allfeeds.com's 'Google Backfill' program in the Alternate URL field of my AdSense code. I never considered the possibility that stop words may cause PSAs to be served - are you basing this on experience, did you read it somewhere, or is it conjecture? Just interested to know - the more knowledge I have about AdSense, the better. Sam
I'm guessing that there are stop words issues on some of pages where I have stories that are a little bit racey. Like I did a story on an mainstream actress who was discovered to have done an adult movie in Japan. I danced around trying to avoid naughty words as much as possible but I couldn't write the story without at least using "adult movie" and "sex industry". Nothing but PSAs on that page and it got a lot of hits, so I switched to YPN.
